History

Founded in 1958, Hornsby Musical Society (HMS) is one of Sydney’s premier amateur societies.
Operating on a not-for-profit basis, the society has staged over 100 productions over the years at numerous venues including St Peter’s Church of England, St John’s Church of England, Asquith Boys High School, Abbotsleigh Girls High School, Mount St Benedict’s Girls College, and Hornsby RSL Club.

HMS takes pride in staging quality productions that involve talented performers and production team members in every step of the production process. A number of Hornsby members have gone on to very successful professional careers including; Brian Stacey, Adam Willits, Barbara Newton, Wendy Purdy, Michael J. Hurney, Liam Shields, Lisa Nicholls, Natalie Davis-Pratt, Andrew Bevis, and Jeremy Secombe.

Staging two musicals each year, HMS continually encourages new members to audition and warmly welcomes individuals to get involved in any capacity. We are happy to accept expressions of interest in all facilities of production including but not limited to; set design, set building, costuming, props, hair and make up, and more.
